Learn from a professional artist of 30 years tutoring experience in a relaxed atmosphere at your own pace,with personal attention and tailored advice. Have the freedom to work on whatever you want; in acrylic, oil, watercolour or charcoal.
These sessions are student driven; whether its for personal enjoyment, a sense of achievement, or a desire to enter art competitions, you'll be encouraged to meet your creative needs and goals.
Bring your own materials and canvas , ideas to explore what is required for your work. I can put you on the right path and demonstrate techniques which can help you to your finished outcome.
Maximum 6 students per session. $50 per 3 hour session.

Al,s art classes 2021 were a great way to develop my artists skillset. With up to only 6 students per session in a 3 hour block there is lots of opportunity for individual mentoring. 40 years career expertise translates to a teacher who understands how to guide you in any media you would like to explore. Al also holds regular drawing classes monthly which have improved my painting of the human form .An added bonus is we get to witness and be inspired by a producing artist in his own studio. The biggest plus for me is his lessons are student driven.

His depth of experience is amazing, and yet he conveys this in a modest way and is not prescriptive in his teaching style.
Al provides me with honest appraisals of my work and encourages me to try new and different approaches , without me feeling overwhelmed or unsupported. I enjoy his friendly banter and his tales of the art world.I have formed great friendships with other students and we support each other in our endeavours.

I'd always wanted to move on from some basic pencil drawing and try my hand at colour. Bought the watercolour goods and pretty much gave myself a fail mark. Stymied! A flyer from a friend got me to alanmorrisonstudio. 10 classes on and another round started and crikey , I wish I'd found him a long time ago. If you want intuitive tutoring in any medium by an artist with loads of experience and technical competence then Al fits the bill.

I have been having lessons from Alan for 12 months now and I am very much a beginner. i Have explored mixed media , and through being mentored I have loved learning abstract acrylic with him. His teaching style is fun and relaxed and he always makes me look at my art objectively; really helped me push the boundaries to explore composition and colour. I absolutely love my 3 hours of learning and our group is small and encouraging. I have recently looked at my paintings from the last year and I absolutely love each one of them.
